MISSION:
The mission of this program is to prepare students for certification and employment as Fire Instructors.
DESCRIPTION:
The Fire Instructor program content includes, but is not limited to, an understanding of adult learning, conducting, and evaluating an active training group; presentations, leading discussions; facilitating structured activities, promoting team learning, assessing and preparing lectures.
UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
To be accepted into the program:
- A person must have completed the certification for a Fire Fighter or a Volunteer Fire Fighter by the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training
- A person must have six (6) years of fire service experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
The Bureau of Fire Standards and Training (BFST) is the certifying agency.

- Assess the need for training and the participants

- Design active training activities
- Sequence active training activities
- Provide for back-on-the-job application
- Plan active training programs
