FIRE FIGHTER II

MISSION:
The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment
as Fire Fighters. Students may also become employed as Volunteer
Fire Fighters before completing the entire program.
DESCRIPTION:
The content includes all the skills and subject required by
the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training to be certified by
that agency for the particular level. These include orientation
to the fire service, fire alarms and communication, vehicles,
apparatus and equipment, fire behavior, portable extinguishers,
fire streams, fundamentals of extinguishment, ladders, hoses,
tools and equipment, forcible entry, loss control, ventilation,
rescue, protective breathing equipment, first responder emergency
medical techniques, water, principles of in-service inspections,
safety, controlled burning, and employability skills.
UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be eligible for certification as a Fire
Fighter
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or a GED
- Not have a criminal record as determined
by fingerprint investigation
- Be of good moral character
- Must be in acceptable medical condition as
determined by a physician
- At time of employment shall sign an affidavit
to not having used tobacco products within the previous year
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
This program prepares students for certification as a firefighter
in accordance with Florida Statute 633 Bureau of Fire Standards
and Training at either the volunteer fire fighter or the career
fire fighter level.
JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion
Points (OCP)
OCPs provide a student with early completion training options
linked to employment opportunities established by the Florida
Department of Education based on the Standard Occupational Classification
(SOC) system and accepted industry titles.
OCP A: Fire Fighter I (225 Hours)
OCP B: Fire Fighter II (225 Hours)
