RETAIL MANAGEMENT AND DISTRIBUTION SPECIALIST

MISSION:
The mission is to provide quality marketing, merchandising, parts specialist, and entry-level management training for a variety of occupations. Emphasis is placed on the personal, technological and academic skills that are the hallmark of today’s expert employee and citizen.


DESCRIPTION:
This program prepares students for employment in a variety of businesses to include: sales, marketing, billing, inventory control, purchasing, warehouse work, entry level management, warehousing, billing, computer systems, accounts receivable, accounts payable and purchasing. Automated and Electronic Cataloging services, parts specialist operations and marketing managerial techniques are also included in the training.


UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to program completion. The basic skills grade levels for this program are: Mathematics 9.0, Language 9.0, Reading 9.0


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
High school students may take the Brainbench Retail Management Certification Test. Adult may take the National Professional Certification in Retail Management Test. After completion of Distribution Specialist, a student may take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) examination for either Automotive Parts Specialist or Heavy Duty Truck Parts Specialist.


JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion Points (OCP)

OCPs provide a student with early completion training options linked to employment opportunities established by the Florida Department of Education based on the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system and accepted industry titles.
