| MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY
(FORMERLY MACHINING)
Florida Program Number: I480503
Total Hours: 1500 Hours
MISSION: The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment as Machinists. Students may also become employed as Machinist Helpers, Machine Operators and Machine Setup Operators before completing the entire program. Completion of the program will prepare students in Computer Numerical Controls (CNC).
DESCRIPTION:
The training includes manual operation of lathes, mills, grinders, EDM and the programming and operation of CNC machine tools. Also included are shop mathematics, blueprint reading, bench work, precision measurement, layout and inspection, communication, and safe and efficient work practices. HS Specialty Program: Production Engineering provides high school students the opportunity to participate in three manufacturing areas; applied welding, electronic technology and manufacturing technology. Students rotate through the three programs and complete a project using the skill learned in each area.
UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
- Tools may be required for employment.
- The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to program completion. The basic skills grade levels for this program are: Mathematics 9.0, Language 8.0, Reading 9.0
