MISSION:
The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment as PC Software Support Specialist. Students may also become employed as General Office Clerks, Help Desk Support Assistants, and Help Desk Specialists before completing the entire program.


DESCRIPTION:
This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in PC support services positions. The content includes software applications and operating systems including the use of advanced software/system features and programs; electronic communication via the Internet; Web page components, computer networks; hardware and software selection and installation; integration techniques to enhance projects; and preventive hardware maintenance. Student club activities may be an integral part of student learning in this program.


UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to program completion.  The basic skills grade levels for this program are:

Mathematics 9.0, Language and Reading 9.0

JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion Points (OCP)
OCPs provide a student with early completion training options linked to employment opportunities established by the Florida Department of Education based on the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system and accepted industry titles.

Local employers have verified that the range of wages that can be reasonably expected by students who enter this field upon completion of the program is:
