ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING

MISSION:
The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment
as drafters and architectural drafters.
DESCRIPTION:
The training includes, but is not limited to skills to support architects and architectural engineers in developing plans for buildings or structures using a variety of materials. Computer-aided drafting is an integral part of the curriculum. Communication and leadership skills, mathematical skills, human relations and employability skills, and safe and efficient work practices are included in the training.
UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
Drafting instruments are needed at various points in training and
are required for employment. The State of Florida requires
students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to program
completion. The basic skills grade levels for this program are:
Mathematics 10.0, Language 9.0, Reading 9.0
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
Completers may receive up to 19 credit hours in Valencia Community College's Drafting & Design Technology program.
JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion Points (OCP)
An OCP is an exit point prior to program completion; referred to as a leaver with marketable skills that is documented to an occupational/job title (Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) or an Industry identified occupational/job title).
Local employers have verified that the range of wages that can
be reasonably expected by students who enter this field upon completion
of the program is:
