MISSION:
Our mission is to provide a working relationship between an employer and an employee during which time the apprentice obtains the necessary skills for employment in the Ironworker trade.


DESCRIPTION:
The program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the Apprenticeship Industry: planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues, and health, safety, and environmental issues. Books, tools, etc, may be required for the program.



UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Physically capable of performing trade work
  • Have a high school diploma/GED
  • Photo ID or driver's license
  • Birth certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Two letters of Recommendation

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
When they complete the training program, the apprentices are advanced to "Journeyman" status.


JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion Points (OCP)
OCPs provide a student with early completion training options linked to employment opportunities established by the Florida Department of Education based on the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system and accepted industry titles.

Local employers have verified that the range of wages that can be reasonably expected by students who enter this field upon completion of the first year is:

FOURTH YEAR: Welding Burning & Plasma Cutting
