MISSION:
To encourage equal access to all segments of the population into the program, by providing vocational training, addressing the problems of qualified employees, and insuring that the highest level of quality training is maintained.


DESCRIPTION:
The content includes, but is not limited to, communication skills, leadership skills, human relations, employability skills, safe and efficient work practices, planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues. Books, tools, etc, may be required for the program.



UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Driver's license or a picture identification
  • Social Security Card
  • Record of previous employment where applicable
  • The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to program completion

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
When they complete the program, the apprentices are advanced to "Journeyman" status.


JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion Points (OCP)
OCPs provide a student with early completion training options linked to employment opportunities established by the Florida Department of Education based on the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system and accepted industry titles.

Local employers have verified that the range of wages that can be reasonably expected by students who enter this field upon completion of the program is:

From $41,000 annually to $47,000 annually
(Based on year-round, full-time employment)


Glazier
  • Perform mathematical calculations and estimate quantities of materials
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Cut and install glass, acrylics and plastics
  • Identify, select and use glazing and caulking compounds
  • Install doors, windows and hardware
  • Replace broken or defective panels
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication skills
  • Demonstrate appropriate understanding of basic science
  • Demonstrate employability skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of entrepreneurship
