ELECTRICITY APPRENTICESHIP (JATC)

MISSION:
The mission of the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is to provide educational opportunities to learn the skills, knowledge and attitudes to meet the employment and personal needs of the individuals in the electrical industry.


DESCRIPTION:
This program is a 5-year electrical apprenticeship program.  Each apprentice shall be required to participate in related instruction away from the job.  The Electrical JATC offers on-the-job training, related classroom training, safety training, predetermined advancements and pay increases, health insurance and pension plans.



UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 17 years of age
  • Complete an application form
  • Show evidence of successful completion of one full credit of high school Algebra
  • High school diploma/GED
  • The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to program completion

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER:
All students are registered with the Department of Labor through the Department of Education.  Upon completion of this apprenticeship program, the student meets the criteria to qualify to take the Electrical Journeyman's State License exam.


JOB TRAINING INCLUDES: Occupational Completion Points (OCP)
OCPs provide a student with early completion training options linked to employment opportunities established by the Florida Department of Education based on the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system and accepted industry titles.

Local employers have verified that the range of wages that can be reasonably expected by students who enter this field upon completion of the program is:

From $39,000 annually to $60,000 annually
(Based on year-round, full-time employment)
