SCHOOL PROFILE

Established in 1963, Mid Florida Tech is located in southwest Orange County and is situated on 106 acres of land. Mid Florida Tech has four Adult and Community Centers, six Instructional Service Centers providing apprenticeship training, one auxiliary site at a local high school, customized training through its Center for Business and Industry Training (CBIT) and the Central Florida Fire Academy.

Mid Florida Tech is one of the most technically advanced training centers in the State of Florida and is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE),the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Middle and Post Secondary Schools (SACS) and The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA).

Mid Florida Tech provides training in the following career clusters: Arts, Audio-Video and Communications; Business Administrative Services; Construction; Health Services; Hospitality and Tourism; Legal and Protective Services; Manufacturing; Retail/Wholesale Sales and Services; and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Services.

Mid Florida Tech students represent a broad spectrum of cultural, national, and racial backgrounds in 53 certificate, CBIT, adult education and off-campus apprenticeship programs.

Mid Florida Tech has four centers of excellence: Electronic Technology, Computer Systems Technology, Automotive Service Technology, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). In partnership with Toyota, Mid Florida Tech offers the Toyota T-Ten Advanced Automotive Service Technology program that provides trained technicians for Toyota dealers throughout Florida.

Mid Florida Tech provides General Educational Development (GED) test preparation, high school dual enrollment, remediation, special needs services, Adult English Literacy (formerly ESOL) and Adult Vocational English Literacy (formerly VESOL) serving 144 dialects. In addition, Mid Florida Tech provides students with financial aid, guidance and counseling, academic testing, and job placement.

Through collaboration with business and industry, Mid Florida Tech develops and provides competency-based training. Programs are based on competencies that prepare students to attain jobs as well as the academics and employability skills necessary to enter specific occupations. Instruction is based on current job tasks identified and validated by employers.

Nationally recognized and respected among business leaders, Mid Florida Tech draws upon the resources of the community to offer students a meaningful education and skills to prepare them to succeed in today's competitive workforce. Mid Florida Tech is an innovative, nontraditional school that adapts quickly to corporate advances in technology and to meet the ever-changing needs of its students. Education and training are essential to career development as we continue in the 21 st Century.
